DHI is an independent, international consulting and research organisation. ==Designations== Since 1973, DHI has been approved by the Danish Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation as an Authorised Technological Service Institute. DHI is designated by the World Health Organisation (WHO) as the Collaborating Center for Water and Health (since 2004) in continuation of being the WHO Collaborating Centre for Water Quality Assessment (since 1993). It is designated as a Resource Centre for the Global Water Partnership (since 2000). It is also designated the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Collaborating Centre for Water and Environment (since 2004) in continuation of being the UNEP Collaborating Centre for Freshwater Quality Monitoring and Assessment (since 1976).
